Centurion Foundation Organised Free Medical Health Camp in Lucknow on Vijay Diwas 2025

Good health plays a behind-the-scenes, yet very powerful, role in helping shape our future. Not only does it affect our confidence, productivity, and reach for future ambitions, but for young people, and especially those going into professions which require stamina of both body and mind, health cannot be left till later. It must be tackled now.

With this understanding, Centurion Foundation organised Defence Medical Fitness Camp 2.0, a Free Medical Health Camp in Lucknow, on the occasion of Vijay Diwas 2025. The event was launched as a tribute to the ideals of service, discipline, and responsibility evoked by the celebration of Vijay Diwas, and to address the immediate, tangible needs of the public: health services.

Vijay Diwas: Remembering the Past, Acting in the Present

Vijay Diwas commemorates the remarkable victory secured in the 1971 Indo-Pak War and signifies the mettle, devotion, and sacrifice of the Indian Armed Forces. Beyond remembrance, the day carries a deeper message of duty towards the nation and its people.

Centurion Foundation thought it best to observe the day with action that meant something more. Centurion Foundation thus designed a free medical health camp in reverence to the values upheld by the Armed Forces: service before self, discipline in action, and care for fellow citizens.

A Community-Focused Healthcare Initiative

The Free Medical Health Camp has been planned for both youth and residents as a basic preventive and awareness-generation campaign. In general, it is observed that a medical unfitness condition among young aspirants does not find its roots in serious illnesses but, instead, in issues that have gone mostly either unnoticed or unaddressed. Quite a few of these issues can be corrected well ahead of time, provided timely guidance and early screening are undertaken.

The camp welcomed:

  • Defence aspirants are getting ready for competitive tests.
  • Students and youth from nearby localities
  • Residents requiring basic health check-ups and consultations with experts

Centurion Foundation made sure that the camp remains open for everyone so that the benefits of this initiative are not restricted to any particular group and would thus benefit the communities as a whole.

Objectives Behind Defence Medical Fitness Camp 2.0

The medical camp itself was organised around clear and applicable objectives, which were centred on awareness, accessibility, and guidance.

The key aims included:

  • Developing awareness about basic health and medical fitness
  • The children will also benefit from gaining insight into common medical problems through early screening
  • Free consultations from experienced Army medical professionals
  • Promoting preventive healthcare instead of delayed treatment
  • Assisting individuals to make timely interventions where necessary

While the concept of health is viewed as a one-day activity, the camp helped to promote the concept of awareness of health over time.

Expert Medical Guidance by Retired Army Doctors

A defining feature of the camp was the presence of highly experienced retired Army doctors, all of whom are alumni of AFMC in Pune, the premier medical institution in the Indian subcontinent serving the Indian Armed Forces.

Medical Experts Who Led the Camp:

  • Dr. (Lt Col.) Mukul Bajpai (Retd.): MBBS, MD
  • Dr. (Lt Col.) Alpana Gupta (Retd.): MD (Pathology), PGDHMM, AFMC Gold Medalist
  • Dr. (Lt Col.) Rigvardhan (Retd.): MBBS, MD (Pathology), PGD

The experience of military healthcare professionals facilitated clarity, authenticity, and accuracy during the consultations. The participants were able to benefit from the evaluations, ensuring clarity of the information needed to understand their health parameters or areas of concern.

Medical Services and Diagnostic Support Provided

The camp was thoughtfully structured to cover commonly overlooked health areas that affect youth and working individuals alike.

Health Services Available at the Camp:

  • Blood Donation Drive
  • Eye Examination
  • Dental Check-Up
  • Orthopaedic Assessment
  • General Physician Consultation

Free Diagnostic Tests Conducted:

  • Complete Blood Count (CBC)
  • Blood Sugar Test
  • Cholesterol Test

All consultations, tests, and evaluations were provided completely free of cost, ensuring accessibility for everyone who attended.

Importance of Early Medical Screening

Although a large number of people become aware of health issues once they start interfering with their performance in some way. However, several health conditions develop slowly and can be managed well if the situation is recognised at an early stage.

With this medical camp, the participants were able to:

  • Form a better idea of where they are in their health
  • Identify minor or hidden issues before they develop into major problems
  • Benefit from sound practical advice from medical experts
  • Make informed decisions concerning follow-up care and lifestyle changes

The camp further instilled the notion that prevention is always better than delayed treatment.
